This was a nice short, really liked some of it. With 20 days in Mario it felt like the horror really carried that film ahead but with this film the shots help propel this forward I only wish it took its subject farther it does feel a bit safe but that’s coming from me and what do I know still find it hard to write a review on a doc but there is this deep feeling below me that tells me this is a pretty good doc short
I really like the color palette in this short, it is vibrant and eye catching to look at quite beautiful.
I also really love the camera work for a contest seeming feels shot all by one person the shots are so gorgeous wide and beautiful allowing for us to experience these peoples life’s in the short little moments as capture by the director.
I also really like the editing but more specifically the pace of the editing it feels very tight but how it flows and how it moves from scene t scene is really what I find impressive the person who edited this thing knows when to cut knows when to linger but more importantly knows how to transition from shot to shot because the screen direction is also great here.
Notes below
——————————————
- like te font, bold, brashz
- cool opening circular crane shot.
- really liked how the phone footage faded to camera footage very impressive.
- I like the shots so far — big wide open allowing us to experience these peoples life’s in the short moments captured.
- like the rack focus on the art work on the wall
- like the blocking on this shot - the grass in most of the bottom half of the frame is pretty cool.
- gorgeous sunset in the background but that stunning water looks great, this was shot at the perfect time of day.
- like the music that we have received
- the cut to the concert with the glowsticks in the background this is a beautiful frame to
- like how the shots are lingering a bit.
- I’ve the color scheme of the red and blue in this scene where the motorcycle passes by
- seeing the words on the screen that say the ferry will never run again” while showing an empty ocean was a great editing hide and the choice to let it linger and fester as it hits you only to slam to black was great as well.
- love the focus in this scene the unfocus on the foreground and the focus on the background this creates such a pretty shot
- then the pane flying over is great too, what a lucky shot
- mirror shot looks great.
- tank pointing towards the sunset showing rather than telling.
